Philodendron Silver Sword
Philodendron hastatum is a vining aroid from Brasil that is cultivated for its silvery gray foliage. This Philodendron loves to climb, and would appreciate a support or moss pole which will allow it to produce larger and more mature, lobed leaves. In nature, this plant climbs up trees to get access to more light, growing aerial roots to attach to the tree. These roots along the vine support the weight of bigger leaves, and absorb moisture to keep the plant happy. To mimic their natural environment in the home, occasionally mist the moss pole so the aerial roots find it easier to attach.
PLANT CARE
• Light: Bright, indirect light
• Water: Water when the top 1-2" of soil feel dry
• Considerations: Use a well-draining, chunky soil mix to promote air circulation to roots. Grow this plant up a moss pole for bigger leaves.
