Chick Fern

Asplenium bulbiferum, commonly known as Hen and Chicken Fern or Mother Spleenwort, is a fern species native to New Zealand.

Light: Asplenium bulbiferum prefers shaded to partially shaded locations. It thrives in areas with filtered or dappled sunlight, making it suitable for growing in shaded garden beds or under the canopy of trees.

Soil: This fern prefers well-draining, humus-rich soil. It can grow in a variety of soil types, including loamy or sandy soils.

Watering: Asplenium bulbiferum prefers consistent moisture but is also well-adapted to periods of dryness. It benefits from regular watering, especially during dry spells.

Temperature: This fern is well-suited for temperate climates and it is not suitable for extremely cold or freezing temperatures.

Maintenance: Asplenium bulbiferum is a low-maintenance fern. Remove any dead or damaged fronds as needed to maintain its appearance. You can also collect and plant the bulbils to propagate new ferns.
